I always make party invitations, call it creative, call it thrifty (or cheap if you want). I do love making them but also you know they are just a vehicle for information, that will end up in the recycling! Yes I could send a message but there is something about having a piece of paper to hand that makes it a little special, especially for children with their friends.
The Design
This time the theme was a Clip n Climb Climbing party. It was very hands off, compared to all other years, so all I had to do was the climbing party invitations, a little favour and a cake.
I wanted something simple but effective and as I was making a climbing wall cake I thought why not do the same with a climbing wall type invitation too. A sort of rock looking space and some colourful climbing grips.
Supplies
It really was a very simple and inexpensive design so the supplies are small
- Mixed Paper Block or any kind of base for the invitation
- Paper for the rock I used this grey
- Foam shapes – We used scraps from previous craft projects. These bits are so small you can use offcuts of any foam, or even paper in any colour you like.
- Pritt Stick – or glue of choice
- Pen – you could the invitations pre printed if you wish too
The Process
I ripped bits off the grey paper diagonally to get a kind of rough climbing edge. Each one was, and invariably will be, different, that adds to the charm. I stuck this onto the right edge of the base and cut around any straight edges.
The colourful foam was cut into tiny shapes with edges that look like someone could grip them! Before sticking these onto the paper, any colours and as many as I liked. Then using the pen to add a dot in the middle like they are on climbing walls. Repeat as many times as needed!
Once they were complete I simply hand wrote the information on and Roma excitedly gave them to her friends and they really showed the theme without having to say!
Simple I know but effective nonetheless.
