Me and Mine – June 2017

Me and mine family photo June

As we come to the end of yet another month and I look back to recall it I do feel a sense of contentment, excitement and a little bit of relief that this has been a good one, a really good one. It had a bit of a rough start when shortly after I posted last months photo’s to say I wasn’t really feeling it, I discovered that I had a case of labyrinthitis (which feels almost exactly like hyperemesis so you can imagine how much fun that was). Maybe that goes some way to explaining a little about my lack of enthusiasm though and fortunately I was able to take a few days off to recover.

From then on it just got better, it has been a busy packed month with Eddy’s birthday, Fathers day, a spa day for me and a friends wedding. With the advantage of the beautiful sunshine coming out too it has meant lots of lovely days out enjoying it in the park and lots and lots of time in the garden. There really is something special about staying out in the garden right up until it is time to get ready for bed.

I quickly got back my enthusiasm for blogging, taking photos and making videos too. I have challenged myself to publish one every Tuesday and I know once a week doesn’t seem much but I am really enjoying it and might even do a week of daily vlogging in July. I love to watch them back from vlogmas and it’s probably a good time to practice before I blink and it’s December again! I also met a blogging friend for the first time and it really cemented that I love this slightly strange world I have fallen into. Then came probably the most exciting news I have ever had when I discovered I had been chosen as a finalist in the BiBs, the Britmums blogging awards, I really still cannot believe it and I am just so thrilled and proud of my little space. It still feels so surreal but has definitely been the icing on the cake of a wonderful month, oh and it was the kick up the bum I needed to have a blog overhaul too so if nothing else I am thankful for that!

Eddy has enjoyed his football themed day out to Manchester for his birthday, the fact that he got me to wear a football shirt for the first time ever and the birthday cake that we made. He has loved his personalised Everton shirt he got for Fathers day, doing some work in the garden and being able to play with the girls out there after work.

Eva this month is definitely coming to the end of her enthusiasm for the school day and has suffered a little in the heat due to her skin allergies but has still found plenty of things to love. The paddling pool outside where she puts the slide in has been a big hit in the hot weather, the fact that the outdoor kitchen is coming together slowly, her shopping spree for clothes and celebrating all things Dad.

Roma has been sleeping well (mostly) with even a few lie ins which has been rather nice. She has also loved letting the butterflies go, spraying everyone she can with her water bottle to cool them down, strawberry picking, wrestling with her sister and celebrating her cousins 2nd birthday.

For our photos this month I really wanted to go to the Poppy fields at the Arboretum near us and see them in full bloom so we planned that for Sunday on the way to my nephews birthday party, we would take a picnic, and my other sister, and it would be lovely. On the Saturday before the sun was shining bright as we went strawberry picking and, knowing I like to make sure we don’t leave it till the very last minute and due to the gorgeous surroundings (and relaxed moods), I decided to take a few self timer snaps on the ground there too, you know just in case. When I looked back at them I love them but they are slightly out of focus so I was secretly pleased that I had another day.

What a difference a day makes! Just 24 hours later and the squinting from the sunshine was replaced with wincing from the rain! Just as we got to the Poppy fields the black clouds hovering above turned into heavy rain on our faces but of course undeterred my sister snapped away anyway and yes I know these photos are a bit dark, we look somewhat wet and disheveled and I should probably make time to actually learn to edit them (it’s on my loooong blogging to do list!) But I love them anyway because they will always remind me of the day we went in search of that poppy field as the rain descended, had to eat our picnic squashed in the car and how as soon as we left the sun came out again!

Oh and I smile at the fact that Eva and Eddy are now happy to go along with whatever crazy photo ideas I have for an easy life but there is no persuading Roma with a look on her face that says “why are you making me do this again?”

For the family photos baby, the memories, and to see how we are together in this very moment. You never know what is around the corner, you never know when things will change, where life will lead, when people will grow and I want to remember this month, this moment of all of us right here, right now. Our little family.

xx

There really was no amount of encouragement or silly faces that could change that bemused look on Roma’s face!

I absolutely love these, what a beautiful field! I love the contrast of Roma’s face and the rest of you too – it just sums up family life perfectly! So glad your labyrinthitis eased off quickly – it really is nasty. I’ve often wondered whether there is a link to being susceptible to that and having HG as they feel so similar, or whether I’m just really unlucky!

Roma’s little bemused face really makes these photos haha, she’s going to love these to look back on in years to come haha. I’m so glad this month has been better for you! xx

Oh I love these pictures! That flower field is amazing (although would be a nightmare for my hayfever!) – getting happy faces from everyone definitely is the challenge with Me & Mine though isn’t it? 🙂

My eldest has such bad hayfever so I know what you mean it takes some planning to still be around these beauties x

Thanks so much lovely, and I am always on the look out for new locations, although I think this one will definitely be a one we return to maybe year after year (to replace the fact I don’t have any lavender that is!)

What a stunning spot! That first one with you cuddling your little one is such a precious moment! xx

I feel certain I have commented on your wonderful photos before, possibly on instagram, but the poppy fields are just delightful! We are off to a lavender field tomorrow, but compared to the mix of colours and wildness in your location I think it might be a bit of a disappointment!
