After a change of plans for various reasons in November 2022 my sister and I were looking at the prospect of a free weekend and nowhere to go. And by that I mean we came to this conclusion the evening before we were going to be staying! Talk about last minute. With a quick search on IHG to use my husbands points we happened upon the 5 star Bovey Castle in Devon.
In August 2021 we had to cancel our summer holiday to Scotland, due to personal circumstances, at the very last minute. With an absolute immediate need to feel the water on my skin and the sand in between my toes (not to mention make it up to the children who were understandably a bit gutted) we booked a cottage about an hour away from the coast in North Norfolk for some August beach fun. And yes, an hour was as close as we could get in travel restricted covid times without remortgaging our house!
Let it be said that we are not one of these families who can bundle in the same bed in the same hotel room like you see so many do and come out happy the other side.
You know the ones, they all fall into a slumber legs wrapped around one another thinking how wonderful life is as the sun goes down just outside the window. They wake up right next to the loves of their entire lives, feeling breath on their face with the synchronised rise and fall of chests, aching with happiness.
